Weekend translation
子供たちが小さくても、色々勉強したい。大好きな山根さんの楽曲の歌詞がお題目なら継続できるかな、という超私的な魂胆。

注：歌詞の背景、状況説明は私の勝手な個人的日本語解釈で進めています。バイリンガル講師がなかなか見つからず、講師が日本語が分からないためにどうしても説明が多分に必要だからです。
#11 STAY WITH ME
今回のお題は「STAY WITH ME」
とっても素敵なカップルの始まりのストーリーですね(^▽^)。
アメリカ人のA先生に続き、イギリス人のN先生も体調不良でキャンセル…。大丈夫かな…あのウィルスでなければいいのだけど。
アメリカ人（LA）のK先生に急遽お願いします。
いきなりレッスンお願いしてもいいってのがCAMBLYのすごいところ…。
There are three characters.
1: Hero
2: Heroine whom the hero likes
3: A guy who asked her out
They are college students.
登場人物は3人います。
1.彼（主人公） 2.彼女 3.彼女に告白した男性
全員大学生です。
This hero likes her, but he can’t bring himself to say it, and they’ve been friends for a long time.
彼は彼女のことが好きですが、それを言い出せないまま、長い間友達として過ごしていました。
One day, she tells him. “I need your advice.” She was asked by a guy to go out with him. This is a guy she met at the same university.
ある日彼女は彼に「相談に乗ってほしい」と言います。実は彼女はある男性に「付き合ってほしい」言われました。同じ大学内で知り合った男性です。
She actually likes the hero. So she wants him to say, “Refuse that date and go out with me.” But the hero couldn’t be honest with himself, so he said to her to get along.
彼女は実は主人公のことが好きなので、彼に「断ってこっちにこい」って言ってほしかったんですが、主人公は素直になれず「幸せに」と彼女に言ってしまいます。
So, What is “now” mean? What do you mean now?
うん、nowで何を表したい？
He has feelings about her for a long time. But he thought it was good being a good friend with her.
彼は彼女のことを好きなのですが、良い友人関係で長くいるので今更言えないってことです。

friendの前にjustを入れて「just a friend/ただ友達として」にしたほうがいいかな。
“laughed off your chit-chat” …What do you mean by”chit-chat”?
「君の雑談を笑い飛ばした」…「chit-chat/雑談」で何を言いたいの？
She was talking about a guy, and he was unwilling to tell her to get along.
He has been her friend for a long time and can’t even tell her how he feels about her anymore. When he found out that some other guy had asked her out, he couldn’t tell her “Say no.”
He ignored her and said, “Why don’t you just go out with him?”
So I used “chit-chat”…
彼女は告白してきた男性のことを彼に相談し、彼は意思に反して応援しました。
彼は長い間彼女には友人として接しており、今更好きだとも言えません。誰かほかの男が彼女を誘っていることを知っても、「断れ」とも今更言えず。彼は彼女からの相談を「付き合えばいいじゃん」と軽く聞き流しました。
だから「chit-chat」を使いました…。

本当にこの表現でいいの？いまいちこの先生の表情が固くて…(-_-;)怒ってはないんだけど無表情…。
“I should have been honest with my feelings, I hated myself.” I would say “I hated myself for staying quiet.”
「素直じゃなかった、自分を憎む」のところは、「for staying quiet/気持ちを伝えられなかった」を付け足そうか。

日本語の歌詞を変えずに訳したんですが…
This is still a little bit confusing to me. Why are we saying this? He literally found an umbrella? Like that’s the action of the scene?
ちょっと分かりにくいな。どうしてこういう言い方かな？文字通り傘を見つけたってこと？
The hero found her walking in the rain, crying. She said that she had turned down the guy’s date. She was very sad because she wanted the hero to realize how she likes him, but he supported her love for that guy.
Here he finally told her how he felt about her.
彼は雨の中歩いている彼女を見つけました、泣きながら、「断ってきた」と言いました。彼女は主人公に自分の気持ちを知って欲しかったのに、逆に応援されてしまって悲しかったんです。
ここで主人公は彼女に告白します。
Right…”Even in a hundred years, I vow my love.”
This means like for a hundred years in the future.
Maybe I would say… “Even for a hundred years.
そう…「100年先の君にも誓える」は未来のことをいってるんだよね。inではなくforを使った方が良いな。

get alongは結婚してる/結婚する二人によく使われるイディオムだと辞書で読んだから、若い二人の会話に「Cheers/幸せに」を今回使ったのだけど…。

Maybe “Cheers to you guys.” is kind of like saying “good luck to you” or “I give you my blessing”

3rdアルバム「Born in 66」におさめられているご機嫌なロックナンバーです。情景が目に浮かぶようなロマンティックな歌詞です。
この歌詞に触発されて私は高校3年生の時に新しい傘を買いました…。大学での通学に使おうと…（←結局阪急電車かどこかでなくしました）
This is a good moody rock number from the third album “Born in 66”. The lyrics are so romantic that you can see the scene in your mind.
Inspired by these lyrics, I bought a new umbrella when I was a senior in high school to use on my way to university (←I ended up losing this umbrella on the Hankyu train or somewhere.).
友人だから今更告白できないって気持ちわかりますよー。
でも私は思い切って告白して良かったな。相手はびっくりしていたけど。でも両想いになれたのでとても良い想い出です。
